Therefore, the books discuss the trajectories and the travails of political, economic, cultural and social developments in the Nigerian state up to independence.

Each book in this series is designed to cover one year’s work in the junior secondary schools, and it is respectively very detailed. At the end of every ninth unit, there are questions to test students’ comprehension about the topics for knowledge evaluation.
